Expelled Liberal Senators refuse to sit as independents

Liberal Senators expelled by Justin Trudeau from the ‘Liberal National Parliamentary Caucus’ have refused to sit as independents, choosing instead to form a parallel ‘Senate Liberal Caucus’.

I am a Liberal Senator.  I am leader of the Opposition.  I am leader of the Senate Liberal caucus.

– Liberal Senator James Cowan

The new Senate Liberal caucus is still affiliated with the Liberal Party of Canada in defiance of the party leader who intended the Senators to sit as independents.

Senate Liberal leader James Cowan says Trudeau did not object to the creation of the new Senate Liberal caucus, despite his proclamation the previous day that “there are no more Liberal Senators.”
